Support for Monique, a young Rwandan genocide survivor.
Since 2015, MOST has been providing financial support to Monique*, a 21-year-old Rwandan genocide survivor. One of the committee members had cared for this young girl during the tragic events of 1994 and has followed her journey over the years. Adopted by a Rwandan family, Monique was fortunate to grow up in a welcoming but large family, which could hardly afford to pay for her university education.
After finishing high school, Monique was eager to enroll at Mount Kenya University in Kigali to earn a degree in Business Management. Thanks to the scholarship awarded by MOST, this has become a reality: Monique began university in June 2015, and this should enable her to fulfill her dream in 2018.
The program will last three years at a total cost of 6,000 CHF
Summer 2018: On August 3, 2018, Monique traveled to Mount Kenya University in Nairobi to receive her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. MOST funded her trip from Kigali to Nairobi to congratulate her on her success. She expresses immense gratitude to the MOST association for the support she received.
Monique’s thank-you note to the president:
I thank you for you are a good and kind person

News from our former Rwandan student:
Our president traveled to Rwanda in September 2022 to visit her and saw that, thanks to our support and her determination, Monique has entered the workforce. First, her college degree helped her find a job as an accountant. Then, using her savings, she decided to fulfill her dream and open a small fashion boutique in a shopping center in Kigali. We are very proud of her perseverance and enthusiasm. We wish her all the success she deserves.
