Community-led project management is the driving force behind the association’s work.
About us
The experiences gained by some through humanitarian missions and by others through their travels led to the creation of the MOST Association.
A strong friendship forged in school and the desire to bring our diverse skills together are the driving forces behind the association’s work.
One day in Nicaragua, an opportunity arose during a meeting with a dedicated teacher who asked us to help the community rebuild the “La Esperanza” school. This project was such a success, that in 1996 we decided to create a nonprofit association called MOST, registered with the Geneva Commercial Registry. The association is recognized as a public benefit organization and is therefore tax-exempt.
The association has established the following operating criteria:
○ Active and voluntary participation by communities in the implementation of their projects.
○ No turnkey projects delivered to beneficiaries.
○ Securing project funding.
○ Direct supervision of implementation and regular monitoring of projects.
○ Maintaining a close-knit atmosphere by limiting the number of association members.
So far, we have:
- built 12 schools
- renovated 1 school
- created 2 classrooms
- provided a small solar power station
- provided ongoing support and given a helping hand to several students to enable them to pursue an higher education
- funded an after-school program
- supported the development of a physical therapy program
- built a vocational training center
- and, on an ad hoc basis, supported orphanages and local organizations in the field of education.
